Making lists is a great way of tracking your progress. I personally like the bullet journaling method, as it allows me to do with the blank page what I need to do.
The positives are being able to move incomplete tasks forward, so they don't get lost on a previous page.
The negative is the pressure to make your journal look like you minored in water color and have secret designs on aspiring to be Monet II. Dispel this temptation! Make lists that suit you and what you're trying to accomplish.
